The Lake Mary Police Department’s do-it-all community relations officer, Zach Hudson, recently recruited a few of his colleagues to create a completely unique new way to educate local kids and parents about the dangers of child abduction. Zach teamed with officers Marie Crawford, Charlotte Hoenicke, and Cheylene Christiansen to write, produce, and perform an interactive puppet show highlighting the risks and simple safety precautions parents and their children can take to prevent an abduction.
The team wrote all the scripts themselves (including some bilingual dialog for Spanish-speaking families) and even built the stage and carried it around from gig to gig. The puppet show was a fun and educational feature of Lake Mary’s recent Family Fun Day. For those who couldn’t make it to the event, Zach and his crew spent a day at the Fox 35 television studios recording their performance for later broadcast.
