Day Starter
Getting sleep is not the same thing as being rested. Sleep is a physical state; rest is a mental state. Too often you sleep, but do not rest. You slumber, but do not refresh. At night, you lie awake thinking of all the things you didn't get done in the day, and anticipate all of the things you feel you must accomplish tomorrow.
Your brain does not turn off, it merely goes into a neutral state with you pressing your foot on the 'to do list' gas pedal, revving your engines at the exact time you should be turning the key off. At this moment, remind yourself that anything not thought through at the end of the day will still be there in the morning to think about.
Anything not accomplished in the day will not be accomplished during the night. You will be more efficient, more productive, more relaxed in your attitude if you take the internally-placed pressure of performance off your shoulders and replace it with a commitment to take things one step at a time. Tonight when you go to bed, shed the frenzy of 'doingness' and embrace the peace, the tranquility, the 'beingness' that comes from true rest, and wake up tomorrow with a sense of newness and purpose."
