Breastfeeding Baby Doll. Educational or Freaky?

A baby doll that lets little girls pretend they are breastfeeding is causing a stir. The Spanish Bebe Gloton (greedy/gluttonous baby) is also known as The Breast Milk Baby. It's designed, according to manufacturer Berjuan Toys, to educate and promote the benefits of breastfeeding for when they are older.

On the company's site, the statement reads, " Little girls need to learn to breastfeed.  Berjuan Toys, the company that has always supported the development of small children by producing interesting, engaging dolls, continues its tradition with the release of this innovative baby doll, The Breast Milk Baby." The cost: more than $100.

Watch the video demonstration above. Girls strap on a harness with petals that look like nipples. The petals show girls where to guide the baby's mouth. Once the doll is near, the doll makes a sucking sound.

The toy has been getting mixed reviews since it came out, causing quite a debate. One reader wrote, "“Yes, breastfeeding is completely natural, but it is something that only adults do, not children. It would actually disgust me if I were to see a child using this ‘toy." Others say, What's the big deal? It's natural.

What's your take? In the day and age where women are having photos of breastfeeding yanked from Facebook, is this a way to  get girls comfortable with the act as they grow up or does it sexualize breastfeeding? Is it about time or way too much? We want to hear from you!
