Emily Capretta
About the Author
Emily Capretta has been native to Southern California her whole life. Writing, exploring new restaurants, finding fun fashion (for tall people!) and of course love are her passions. During high school, Emily developed a deeper passion for sports and journalism. When offered a scholarship to play basketball in New York she didn't hesitate and made the 3,000 mile journey across the country. However a torn ACL a little over a year later ended her career, but every ending has a beginning right? It was through her injury she met her future husband and began the next chapter in her life.
While finishing her journalism degree at California State University Northridge, Emily became actively involved in the radio and television station. She wrote, reported, edited, and produced weekly segments for each. She also spent time writing for the Pierce College newspaper. During her schooling, Emily interned at KABC 7 and spent an extensive amount of time covering the Lakers and shadowing in the newsroom. She also interned at Fox Sports West and was hired and worked for them for eight months.
Currently Emily is the Style & Lifestyle Editor for Westlake Magazine. Emily worked for KABC Channel 7 for four years on the news side and most recently for “On The Red Carpet,” a weekly entertainment show. She also writes for Agoura Hills Patch, a hyper-localized news site owned by AOL, with three weekly columns on local food and restaurants. Her passion has always been writing and she is excited to be a part of the Gal Time team. Emily is also the social media director for Proactive Sports Performance, a local sports training center.
Additionally Emily runs a personal blog site (www.MrsCapretta.com) that covers all things food, fashion, traveling, design and marriage. As a newlywed, Emily offers some fun advice on love, gives step by steps photo instructions for easy and fun recipes and writes about everything that makes her smile. Emily currently resides in Westlake Village with her husband and two dogs.
