Maya Angelou made an eloquent statement that will forever leave an imprint within my spirit. 

As a woman "you may have encountered many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter defeats so one can know who they are, what one can rise from and how determined you are to free yourself from all negativity".

Having encountered life changing experiences both positive and negative forced me to re-evaluate my life's purpose, lifestyle and total image from the inside out. During this very humbling and introspective period I learned through spiritual meditation, positive thinking and thoughtful action that a healthy self-image is both a balance of inner strength and spiritual peace. As such, I believe that inner beauty and strength derives from our intuitive knowing about ourselves, which impacts our self-confidence, image and lifestyle choices.

Breaking free from the conventional notions of beauty, and learning to trust and believe in who I am as a woman, and student of life aided me in realizing that our inner beauty is nurtured from the essence of who we are as women, and who we were made to be. These personal revelations have been liberating and invigorating in more ways than one. I am a Renaissance woman who cannot be defined by society's definitions of what beauty is, or ought to be.
