5 Budget-Friendly Romantic Spring Break Getaways

By  0 Comments

Need a “spring break” even though college has been in the rear view mirror for a while now? You don’t need to be in school to give yourself permission to get away…especially with your special plus one.  This is the perfect time of year to plan a quick, romantic getaway.

Ami Canzano  said that she and her husband enjoy planning intimate getaways. A while back,  “We went for a long weekend to South Beach Miami. It’s always—for the most part—warm all year round, and the vibe in the air there is like no other,” she said. “Plus, we never exercise together, but (in Miami) we were able to bond by going for a run on the beach together and then taking a dip in the pool. It was fun.”

If the sound of a beach vacation has you ready to pack your bags but you’re worried that a last-minute trip might not be in your budget — think again! According to Lisa Haisha, a relationship coach who’s traveled to over 60 countries—from Peru to Tanzania—there are plenty of budget-friendly, romantic getaways that are sure to give you and your partner just the R&R you need.

And here are five destinations that Haisha says you simply can’t afford to miss out on:
Sunscape Dorado Pacifico Ixtapa

The Sunscape’s budget-friendly price makes it a deal, but most people make the journey here for the sandy beach location on calm Playa del Palmar. You’ll be glad to know that the room choices are similar to a much larger resort. Four bars and eight restaurants offer a variety of food—from seafood to Italian to Mexican—to keep your romantic dinners eclectic. And don’t forget to visit their spa, which is sure to relax even the most stressed out traveler.

ClubHotel Riu Negril

On the far western tip of Jamaica, you’ll find this bustling beachfront resort in Negril. There’s no question this location is meant for the younger couples, where the Pacha nightclub guarantees reggae is sure to be spinning. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, however, try the solarium terrace or take a dip in one of their two gigantic pools located right on the beach. Both are well over 3,000 square feet! As an added bonus, the resort pool occasionally offers complimentary entry and drinks at the posh Pacha nightclub, not to mention free introductory scuba diving lessons.

PLUS Hostels in Europe

If you’d like to travel across Europe but the cost of staying at multiple hotels just isn’t within your budget, the new trend of staying at a luxury Hostels or “Poshtel” is one option that will keep you affordably on the move. PLUS hostels are well-known for providing quality accommodations and can be found in Berlin, Prague, and Florence. There is also a PLUS camping option in Venice and Rome. Guests can stay up to 14 nights. Whether you’re on the move or would like to enjoy the city for longer periods of time, both options are available to you. Just be sure to book in advance, as the rooms fill up quickly!
Floating Bungalows of Khao Sok

Known as floating bungalows, authentic Thai raft houses are popular accommodations for world travelers visiting Khao Sok Lake. Serene and secluded, staying in a raft house is a great way to commune with the abundance of nature that surrounds the scenic area. Because of its remote location and simple economy, bungalows are inexpensive. Plus, the breathtaking views make for an especially romantic setting. Local adventures are also plentiful—from lake tours to beach excursions to fishing expeditions. Reservations start at $75 per room, per night.

Norwegian Jade Mediterranean Cruise

Cool weather months are usually not very popular when it comes to cruising, but that also makes cruises incredibly affordable when booked during this period of time. The Norwegian Jade Winter Mediterranean Cruise visits the ancient seas of the Mediterranean and the Moroccan Coast. Guests can walk Barcelona’s famous Las Ramblas, visit the 16th Century Kasbah in the Moroccan city of Agadir, or traverse the medieval alleyways of Valletta. The ship itself boasts swimming pools, hot tubs, a health spa, a casino, 12 different restaurants, 24-hour room service and 11 bars and lounges.  “Don’t let price kill the possibility of romance on your getaway,” Haisha says. “These excursions are entirely unique to budget-conscious travelers, with none of the sacrifices to entertainment or accommodations.” Plus there are options for extended weeklong stays or long-weekend getaways.
