Eyelash Curler Safety: 4 Steps to Long Lashes
As a makeup artist, I’m often asked about products that I can’t live without, and a quality eyelash curler is always at the top of the list!
I know there are many lovely ladies who have never tried this somewhat scary looking device, but trust me, nothing opens up your eyes more than curled lashes! Here’s how to use a lash curler the right way and get those gorgeous peepers to pop!
1.) Choose the right eyelash curler. Find one with a really great grip that feels secure when you squeeze it. Paula Dorf Curl Up Eyelash Curler ($18) and cult-fave Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler ($20) are both well-made and contain high quality rubber strips that won’t degrade over time.
2.) A good rule of thumb is to curl your lashes first and apply mascara second. This will prevent your lashes from breaking.
3.) Ready for some fabuluous fringe? Make sure that your eyelash curler is clean. Next, simply spread the handles and center your upper lashes in between the upper and lower pads. Place the curler at the base of the upper lash line, as close to the roots as possible, without pinching your lid. Squeeze gently. Hold for five to ten seconds and release.
4.) Apply 2 to 3 coats of your favorite mascara, wiggling the wand from root to tip.
Voila! Spidery long lashes in a snap!
