Is this a new dating site or online prostitution? | Love & Sex
I'm not really old, but I feel old school right now. Just read an article about a new online dating site where men actually bid on women... oh, excuse me... they bid on "first dates" with women. It's called WhatsYourPrice.com. The founder, Brandon Wade, describes it as the e-bay of dating. When a guy sees "a hot single" member he wants to date, he makes an offer. Men are listed under "the generous" and women are listed under "the attractive."
"The attractive" create typical dating-site profiles, but they also include the amount of money they'd accept to go on a date with someone. "The generous" browse the profiles and place bids. Once an offer is made, "the attractive" can accept, reject or counteroffer. As Wade says, everyone has their price.
I had to check the site out. What kind of woman would do this? No surprise.... lots of skin from "the attractives" and asking prices that ranged from $110 to $140. "The generous" were bidding $50 t0 $170... a bit of skin on that side, too. The company insists "absolutely no sex" is involved (sure.....) on the first date.
Wade says he's just injecting a bit of capitalism into dating...and helping women make some cash. Word is the company that owns WhatsYourPrice has already trademarked the phrase "Make Money Dating."
Am I the only one who thinks this is disgusting?
